I've gone back and forth about this whole Rachael Quintana situation since I first learned of it. Part of me thinks it's a small thing and we should all let it go. The other part of me wants to put her on the public grill and light it up.
She lied. She forged. She did something I'm sure millions of Americans do each day.
She did it with her kid in tow. That's pretty bad. If you've got to get to Sacramento that bad give me a call, I'll loan you the money. Don't put yourself and your family in a position like that. That's irresponsible.
I'm not going to get into this whole "if she did that, what else would she do" mode. There's no telling what anybody will do on any given day whether they have a history or not.
She should step down, however. She needs to get her life in order. She's been ducking her constituents and the media. I can forgive the ignoring of the media bit, but I can not condone ignoring the voters.
Wait - did you see what I just did? I just took an incident that happened this past weekend and pushed it over into a criticism of a previous and different issue. I'm tying two unrelated things together. Always make sure you look at what people write and do a time-line in your head when a writer asks you to take action based on an issue. Just a tip.
She's unpopular among the upwardly mobile and progressive democrats that dominate local politics. Anything she's accused of is grounds for a public beheading in the eyes of this group. She definitely gave them some major ammo with this last stunt and I wouldn't be surprised if they succeed in sacking her some time soon.
I personally could give a shit what happens to her. I'm nobody to judge. I lied just the other day. My wife checked our online record of debits made on our checking account and saw that I bought Waterburger (Whataburger to you non-Texans) during an unsanctioned "fast food" outing. I smoothed over the whole situation by claiming to have eaten a their grilled chicken sandwich when I had in fact had their triple meat triple cheese burger with "whata-sized" fries and drink. So I'm pretty much in no place to judge others.
Rachael needs to get her shit together. If you run for office, expect to win because you just might. Once you win you can't be what you were before - you have to be better, like Judge Cobos.
