Do you even know here name?
Of all the audible media I've consumed today I just keep hearing "woman."
Is that a good thing?
The jury is still out.
In the meantime let's go through the pros and cons of this who situation.
Brilliant - McCain announces his running mate the morning after Obama's "historic" convention speech. The fact that his running mate is unknown, a woman and a complete and total surprise smashed any chances of Obama having a huge media presence today.
I timed the news pieces today and before 9:00 o'clock Mountain time Obama was getting full one minute to minute and a half stories reported on his speech. Right after the announcement was official from McCain those stories became 15 and 30 second bites. McCain's pick started hogging all the news time.
Instead of Obama getting a huge media boost after the speech, he's been buried under this lady from literally nowhere. The media is going to spend the next few weeks talking about this woman as they find out more about her. Obama is about to be beat at his own game. He will no longer own the media spotlight.
Stupidity - She's from Alaska and as governor represents only about 670,000 constituents. That's roughly what El Paso's population is right now. Technically Mayor Cook is as qualified as she when it comes to the sheer numbers of people they've represented. This fact will be a campaign theme.
Brilliant - McCain picked a family oriented woman. She's from a nowhere America, has a goofy looking husband and a retarded kid. She's just like us. And I meant to write "retarded," because in the end that's what he or she is. Get over it.
She's not some rich glamorous babe with a politically connected family. She's a woman that resembles a lot of women in America. That's something Hillary couldn't really pull off.
Stupidity - Her voice! She sounds awful. Her voice makes me angry.
Brilliant - Biden can't beat her up in the debates. If he gets too aggressive he'll turn off every woman in the united states. He's going to have to tip toe around her in the debates and lose opportunities to slam certain topics home.
That's just the beginning. We don't know much about her as of yet. At one point we didn't know much about Obama either and now we know almost too much. Obama is one month away from having an illness named after him - one related to Obama overload.
She's a pretty a lady. That will make the men comfortable with her. Unfortunately the guys out there still think with the wrong part of their body often. Democrats will be hard pressed to battle her beauty with Biden's looks.
We'll have to revisit this post in a couple of weeks when the dust settles (if that happens). We've got way too much of a "knee jerk" reaction happening right now on both sides with each claiming the pick is their key to victory.
ps. Did you notice I didn't use her name once?
