Did you see where the EPTimes endorsed the family values proposition? Holy Cow.
Every liberal in town is going to have their head spin off when they read that in the paper today. This includes my buddy Jamie Abeytia... He's going to spend the next month frying the EP Times over the endorsement. It should be rather nasty.
Expect protests, cancellations of nonexistent subscriptions and general outrage by certain segments of the community. The drama is going to be quite a spectacle.
The EP Times' reasoning for supporting the measure puts certain local pundits in a tight spot. You see, when the paper endorsed McCain a couple years back the local pundits like Paul Strelzin were screaming "you must only endorse people and propositions that are popular with El Pasoans." I thought it was bullshit logic and against everything the press is built on in this country, but then again I'm not just another sheep in the flock.
What' the Times has done here is made a reasoned endorsement based on assessment of where El Pasoans are on the issue. That's exactly what the local pundits wanted them to do. Any argument against their endorsement will be to contradict their original argument. Some of the local big mouths are in real trouble here.
I personally don't really care what or who the paper endorses. I don't have a subscription to cancel in protest. In fact, one of these days I'm going to get off my lazy butt and get a subscription that way I can make hollow threats of cancellation when I get mad at what they write.
I think I'll breakdown their words on their picks of the candidates later just to show how "everybody" sees people one way when they are in fact another. I will also tell you why the paper used those words instead of their honest assessement. There's a lot of "the devil you know" logic that goes into endorsement.
