After you shake off your New Year's hangover and decide that your resolution to join a gym is pointless, take a look at City Council's first agenda of the year HERE.
Got to item 8 - Public Health.
Since when is my disgusting weight gain within the purview of city government to regulate? Why should they even care? What state law gives them jurisdiction over my spare tire? I want answers! Not really. I already have them.
It seems as if fat straight people who own businesses are the new graffiti in El Paso - unwanted, ugly and generally a nuisance to the community.
I'm all for people being healthy, and I know it's the cool thing to do since Michelle Obama told us it was the new coll thing to do, but it's not our city government's job to even think about this issue. Let people do their own obesity reduction program and the city can focus on things like collecting ambulance fees (or not collecting them in the most recent case).
I know folks at the city and on city council are going to think I'm being an asshole here, but they need to stick to their specific jobs and stay out of crap like this.
Happy New Year... fatso
