You might remember last week when the EPTimes' crack reporter Marty "I Should Know Better" Schladen wrote an article about how Cortney Niland and Adam Frank didn't break the law, but spent the better part of 1,000 words speaking hypothetically about how they could have had they done things completely different than the way they did them. What you won't remember is the article he wrote on the candidate who actually has multiple questionable donations. You won't remember because he didn't write that article. Here's what he missed along with my thoughts.
Mayela Mejia garnered the El Paso Times endorsement even though it's apparent that she's an uneducated welfare queen with an employment history at the city that is poor at best. The next time the EP Times preaches about better jobs and better education in our city, remember they promoted the dumb, purposely poor person over the educated and employed DOCTOR. Nothing says "we want a better El Paso" by continuing to support people who represent the problems with El Paso and El pasoans through their own enthusiastic pursuit of taxpayer funded failure in life. Screw DR. Noe and his self-sufficient lifestyle and his rampant hiring of El Pasoans and providing them benefits - he's the asshole. PEOPLE WHO TRY/WORK HARD SUCK!
Where was I before I called a gynecologist an asshole?
I remember - the missed story about Mejia.
Mejia's 30 day before election campaign finance report was available to Marty "I Should Know Better" Schladen at the very same time, on the very same page as Cortney Niland's, but he ignored it last week. That's too bad because there's some good stuff in that report. And by "good stuff," I mean "a hell of a lot more questionable than the completely legal in-kind contribution that Adam Frank gave to Cortney Niland."
Below you will find three donations that appear on her campaign finance report and my questions (thoughts) about them. Get the report by clicking ---> Download Mejia 30 day
EP Four Amigos
I don't know anyone named "EP Four Amigos." That would be an odd name to give a kid. I have to assume that "EP Four Amigos" is some kind of company. On Mejia's campaign finance report, this company (I don't know what kind of company it is, but it's worth asking if you're going to reverse engineer Adam Frank back to River Oaks without any reason what-so-ever to do so other than pure spite) provides an in-kind donation of a campaign office. Usually the person providing an in-kind campaign office writes themselves a lease and pays the lease back to their company out of their personal funds. If "EP Four Amigos" is a soul proprietorship, then you have no problem. However, the question was asked of one candidate and not another - why didn't the EP Times ask both?
Again, if you're going to question in-kind contributions from individuals (which are 100% legal), why aren't you going to question one by a faceless company of some kind?
You might remember that "EP Four Amigos" was listed in the complaint against Lyda Ness-Garcia-Ourladyguadalupe-Hernandez-the third.
Mexus Group
The "Mexus Group" gave Mejia $500 on April 7, 2011. I really didn't know anything about "Mexus Group" other than I thought (again) it was an odd name for a person. Turns out that "Mexus Group" isn't a person, but some kind of communications company - I think. Again, we're given nothing more than a name of what appears to be a business.
The clue that led me to what I think is the answer appeared in a blurb on the El Paso Times' website today about a guy named Ralph Adame calling the President of the United State of America "el vato." As embarrassingly idiotic, dumb, stupid, moronic, disrespectful etc. et al that the statement from Adame is, it's a lot more revealing that he's identified as the "chief executive officer of Mexus Communications in El Paso."
Ralph Adame is a never-was that turns other people into never-gonna-bes. He fancies himself as "connected," but has often been caught going between two candidates stealing info from one and giving it to another. I know the Dee Margo camp doesn't like Adame one bit. He's a jackass and I have stories to back that title up. He's just the kind of jackass to get behind Mejia and give her a check from "Mexus Group." I'm not 100% sure he's behind this donation - he may not be - but it sure is worth connecting the dots.
We really don't know who gave the donation, because the report doesn't state a "who," it states a "what." That "what" is "MexusGroup." We don't know if "Mexus Group" is even "Mexus Communications" per se, but it's oddly similar. We also don't know if "Mexus Group" is incorporated or not. We just don't know a lot about this donation and it's suspicious. Much more suspicious than a completely legal in-kind donation from Adam Frank to Cortney Niland.
Linbarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson
That's some collection of last names, isn't it? Sounds like a law firm gave Mejia $300 for her campaign. I didn't know they gave as a firm. I hear this group does the tax collections for the City of El Paso. If Mr. Linbarger or Mr. Goggan or Mr. Blair or Mr. Sampson had given individually, I would have no questions. When the check comes from the firm, instead of an individual, it makes me wonder what they want. I'm sure they're only interested in El Paso's future and not in any kind of business that would effect their business like the cancellation of their contract by a city council that wants to use any one of the many many many firms located in El Paso that do the very same thing as Linbarger, Goggan, Blair & Sampson. Nope, they're just helping the dreams of a little gal from the east side come true, that's all... nothing to see here.
---------------------
In all fairness - and God knows I'm not fair and don't like to be - I looked at Dr. Noe's campaign finance report from the same period. It looks like it was put together by that dorky kid in school who started taking math classes at UTEP in the ninth grade. It's typed, it's orderly and it's filled with middle eastern names that aren't "Abraham" or "Malooley." The guy even pays payroll taxes foir his campaign staff! Most people just call it contract labor and move on.
If Dr. Noe is as put together as a city council member as his campaign finance reports are, we're in for a real treat. Right now we have city council members who get lost on the agenda during item two.
Here you go, David...
EP FOUR AMIGOS, LP BINGHAM DAVID

EP Four Amigos is a LP of individuals, not a corporate entities therefore Mejia is not in violation as it is permissible to receive a donation.
Its Bingham and the three Malooly brothers.

It always comes across as suspicious when checks are issued by a business entity and not an individual. Perception is reality whether anyone wants to admit it or not. Don't want to be perceived as doing something wrong - then don't do it the way you did it. Issue a personal check and be done with it! I'm sure those individuals can more than afford to cut a check from their personal funds. Wonder if Ms. Campa thinks PAC donations are good or bad? Same concept - PACs are allowed to donate to candidates.
It is a sad state of affairs that an educated person who actually owns a business/medical practice in El Paso can't seem to get any traction among the media. The local male media types think with the smaller brain and it's attracted to pretty women. Watch/read the coverage - its there.

David Bingham is a local developer and the same guy that Ness the Mess got in trouble in 2008 for accepting donations from his corporation and exceeding the maximum personal contribution of $2,500. He donated again to Ness the Mess on her 2011 Circus Campaign. Like the rest of Ness the Mess Contributers, they ended up with the face of a cat that ate the canary after Ness the Mess was publicly humiliated.

You call a spade a spade, David. Thank you. Too many people are fooled by this woman's niceness, when, in actuality, she will back stab her children to get what she wants, which is POWER! She cares about no one but herself.

Ask Richard Bonart if Lilly stabbed him in the back.
