On ABC Extra last Sunday (http://www.kvia.com/xtra/index.html about 21:30 in) did Congressman Reyes get the Sunni/Shiite question wrong again? (More concise link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HPr8YFHDJdg)
Please tell me he didn't.
Please, please, please, please, please, please tell me he got the question right. For the love of God and any shred of dignity El Paso has left - TELL ME HE GOT IT RIGHT.
You're not going to tell me that, are you?
Fort Bliss is El Paso's only hope to receive any support from the federal government with the choices of Reyes or O'Rourke to be the next congressman. Washington will have to throw El Paso a bone from time to time to keep the infrastructure around Ft Bliss at an acceptable level. The latest example of that is the federal dollars to go to EPISD schools that support Ft Bliss dependents because EPISD is at the top of poor school list. The influence of either Reyes or O'Rourke, in and of itself, is and will be microscopic. El Paso will be the lost cause in what will probably be a united Republican government.

There were meetings in 2003,
2005 and 2008. The first was to let people know about what was coming to Ft. Bliss.
The second to let us know that the Military Appropriations had gotten the money for a new Ft. Bliss. The third was to show us the plans that in place at this time, of what is being built in Ft. Bliss. Their own community.
No where did anyone ever say that Congressman Reyes had anything, to do with any of this. So what is he getting the kudos on this?
We need some one else to run for Congress other than these two people. One is for all dope here in the USA and the other is just there. Who can run that will give them hell and go on to Congress with the best of their ability to do for El Paso?

Sorry as soon as he confidently declared Al Queada to be Shiite I cringed. He was so confident it made me smile.

It gives some glimmer of hope if the yellow dog democrats in the heart of NYC can switch to the GOP then there maybe hope in El Paso as well. That is as long as that Republican challenger can speak Spanglish!
