There's a whisper campaign out there trying to accuse former judge, soon to be judge again, Chris Antcliff of trying to rig his reelection to a spot he hasn't actually been sworn into yet. It's BS. I asked around and got some very frank answers and they didn't lead to anywhere near to a "fixed" election.
1. Antcliff's former/current law partner had expressed an interest in running for the judicial spot in the past.
2. Antcliff got the appointment and likely has informed his former/current law partner that it isn't just El Paso who sees that judge on the ballot.
The bottom line - there's something like 16 counties outside of El Paso that will have this race on the ballot. There's a very good chance Antcliff will win this one as a republican easily and that this alleged plot to have an opponent pull out is pure fiction thought up by those who have the time to think of such things.
I just can't see anyone participating in that game given that Antcliff has voters outside of El Paso who can even the odds of the local turnout.
Of course, it's a judicial race and that means nobody cares and nobody is paying attention anyhow.
Yes, and i remember during the Stormwater debate you said the PSB didn't buy Volvo. What you really know about Antcliff is probably more BS.
