It's funny to see people in El Paso freaking out about the Susan G. Komen foundation cutting funding for Planned Parenthood. I don't really care to get into a political argument here since Komen is a private charity and they can do whatever the hell they want with their money (well, that's not true they can' t do a lot of things, but you know what I mean) and if you don't like it, stop giving them money.
anywho....
More than a year ago the Planned Parenthoods in El Paso vanished - almost overnight. The only person I remember paying attention to the issue was Lisa Degliatoni. She was pissed. She was concerned. She was largely ignored and moved to Evanston, Illinois where Planned Parenthood is alive and well. Okay, maybe that's not exactly "why" she left, but a case could be made.
Because of political expediency El Paso politicians are now speaking out against Komen's mean move. Too bad they didn't have much to say a year or more ago when they (Planned Parenthood) disapeared in El Paso. One has to wonder how real their outrage is when they didn't even bat an eye when Planned Parenthood needed them most.
Pay attention folks - fake outrage is equal to real lying.
I thought the Komen Foundation was there to help with finding a cure for Breast Cancer. I was a bit surprised to learn this organization is a source for grants to a number of different other organizations. Be careful whom you give money to, for it may find it's way to other places you didn't expect.

Well, thank goodness we got rid of Planned Parenthood, otherwise we might still be the laughingstock of the southwest. I'm convinced that if it was discovered that the world's largest diamond mine was underneath most of this town, that this town would still find a way to be poor. BTW - does anyone really wish to see Madonna shake her cellulite for 30 minutes?.....I didn't think so.

Newspaper Tree had a lot of great coverage about the closing of El Paso's Planned Parenthood.

Although, I think my leaving El Paso had to do a lot with the city not being able to support a Planned Parenthood or a Trader Joe's, I've dumped lots of cities; Brooklyn, San Francisco, Manhattan, Durango, San Diego...

Lisa, come back! I miss your sexy, buttery voice! I'll even petition Trader Joe's to come to EP!
