Chente, Caballero, Lizarraga and Arditti all lost their run-offs as they should have. All of them are ugly warts on the face of El Paso politics and hopefully you've removed them for good after this cycle.
I do know that at least a couple of those people on that list are likely to be meeting with prosecutors in the future. It's better they do it from where they're going to be rather than where they could have been.
Good Job El Paso - I may come visit you in October just to show my appreciation.
Also, this wouldn't be a complete post without a mention of NORMA... Looks like she lost every single race she wanted to win this cycle. Her magic touch turned everybody she supported into a loser. How about that? I just love it. A wholesale rejection of her and her friends has taken place yet again. NORMA only remains relevant because I choose to let her be. When I'm no longer entertained by her, she won't even be able to get the attention of a waiter at an empty restaurant. I expect she owes me a bit of a "thank you" for keeping her alive all this time. I'll be waiting.
100% right, David K.
Theresa Caballero couldn't win an open seat or beat a candidate who had ZERO name recognition, didn't campaign much, didn't effectively draw attention to Theresa's negatives, etc. Runoff voters are much better informed than regular election day voters. They come back for the runoff because they want to. Voters came back to reject Theresa.
And Norma Chavez, who claims to know the valley and understand politics has proven she's a has-been who doesn't get politics anymore.
Vince's win has proven you no longer need the valley to win a race...even for a seat in the valley!

Vince has proven you no longer need to taco plate your way to victory in an election in the Valley.
It was the Latino vote the pulled Vince over the top. No way Vince could have won without the Latino vote.

Caballero couldn't use her usual nasty tactics running as a judge candidate versus DA. There is a code or something that makes the judge candidates keep it clean and no nasty ads. So she had no way to destroy her opponent. Guess Pastor Tom Brown's people didn't come out to vote for her either since they lost their fight on the recall and Caballero/Leeds were part of the legal team.
Very glad that Vince won - finally there is hope that we might have a County Commissioner's Court made up of people that actually get it and hopefully will not be tempted by the corrupt inviduals that always try to influence the county commissioners.

Caballero didn't lose. . She got spanked! If you want people to show up to vote, put TC on the ballot - you'll get a tsunami of voters flooding the polls to make sure she never wins an elected office! Rock the Vote!

To be fair Norma made 8 picks. 2 actually won - Straham (388th) and Sadler for Senate.

If you had any genuine ability to comprehend any political issue in any depth you actually would be stupid. Jorge

I still doing the happy dance that today Larry Medina will never return to a ballot. Also Arditti lost, but we all paid her for four years of nothing, and still pay her until the end of the year. Technically she still wins...

Yes, El Pasoans aren't as stupid or easily intimidated as Caballero thought they were. She's a raving LOON and a bully and has finally pushed it too far. The state board will deal with her now, as they should. In her eyes it is NEVER her, it is ALWAYS the other guy....no matter what. She needs a shrink.

Mr. K, I continue to enjoy your comments. Thank you for calling it like it is. Especially true are your comments regarding Chavez. Will she ever go away? I guess until she finds another job where she can strong arm someone to pay for her lunches and birthday parties, we are stuck with her. But she is rather entertaining - like a monkey in a cage. Amazingly almost human.

And, Norma Chavez was paid $1000 for "campaign analysis" by Strathman. See, this loser does nothing without a payoff first.

You know that whale won't file taxes for it either.

Norma mentioned again

Some win some lose so what is next?! What about the schoolboard? I believe that Shapleigh is doing a fabulous job of exposing the truth. The only ones losing on this are the kids that go to school. What happens to them in the future. After they finish high school. Will they be able to pass the college exam to enter a college? What about a good job when they cannot even read at the second grade level? People if you can please sign the petition that is going around to get rid of all these bozos that did nothing about all the corruption. We really need to start anew!

And Weaver sat on that EPISD board and did nothing until others did it for him. Now he's shilling for a petition because he found his inner outrage and courage amongst the masses to protect him.
And David, you dislike for Caballero is understandable. She and Leeds are pretty tight after all. She's also besties with D. Sipes I hear. By the way, How's that crow... er apology working out for ya?
Posted by: EPgal | August 08, 2012 at 03:13 AM
EPgal,
Wever has been banging the drum for years and took a lot of shit for it. He was right and continues to do what he's always done - fight for what he thinks is right. You ought be thanking the guy, not bashing him.
What crow? You mean the lawsuit they dropped because they knew they'd lose? I feel pretty good about being the only one in El Paso with balls enough to stand up to them. Those in the legal community think I'm a pretty cool guy - I'm even a "hero" in some of their eyes. Most people would have just quit - I didn't. I took them on. Look where I am now and where they are - game, set - match.
You might need to find something better to do with your time a 3:13 AM than sitting around reading my dumb little blog. You're making me a very special part of your life and seems to be very upsetting to you. Please seek help for you David K addiction - I don't want to cause you long term problems. I'd hate to have that on my conscience.

My question to you is, why the F are you writing about El Paso when you live so far away? Seems that you should be right here in the Sun City. Is there nothing going on wherever you are?
Posted by: Jim | August 21, 2012 at 03:54 PM
Jim,
Why the F are you reading a blog post about El Paso written by someone who doesn't live there?
Try this - walk into a store and ask them why they aren't selling anything you'd like to buy - see what they say.
