Because the Four Names Allala clan is universally unemployed, they always show up at city council meetings. A rare wednesday meeting was held yesterday and they were at it as usual - lying on the record in front of God and everybody. Their topic was the lawsuit from the city to compel the Attorney General's office to take a closer look at their ruling that personal emails from personal email accounts have to be turned over in FOIA/ORRrequests. It was the normal bullshit from the normal idiots, but it sparked some pretty dumb responses from Robinson and Holguin.
Rep. Holguin, who has his own problems brewing as his actions at city hall on city time could be a part of an investigation, decided to grandstand and demand that he be given the exact amount of money the city was spending fighting the Attorney General's ruling. His agenda is to get that number and scream that the city is wasting taxpayer money.
He's a hypocrite because he's egging on the people who are suing the city. Some suspect he's feeding them information. The truth is that Holguin is on the one hand supportingthe frivolous lawsuits brought by Four Names and her band of idiots and then on the other hand bitching about the city spending too much defending itself. Holguin is too stupid to realize that the city is actually defending him in case there's a time when someone wants to dig through his personal email - which I will do by court order if the AG wins and the city loses. I will post every single personal email Eddie Holguin has ever sent or received while sitting in City Hall (including from his personal cell phone) and I have the financial backing from the community to pursue that quest.
In the mean time - he has the power to save the city money by telling his buddy Four Names Allala that it's all done - it's over - suing the city is just wasting taxpayer money because they always lose. How much has Holguin's friends cost the city? Millions.
Robinson is either stupid or can not remember anything. He had no idea that the city was fighting the AG's ruling. He stated in the meeting that he was clueless - which was honest of him to admit. Every other single person in the room recalled the exact dates and times when the issue had been discussed, when the documents were emailed to council members and where they were in the processes. Robinson, however, had never heard of it. Maybe it's because he doesn't use a computer and doesn't have a staff that is reliable, or capable enough when it comes to educating him on issues.
Bottom line - Robinson is too inept to continue representing the good people of the Northeast. He not only gets his jollies berating women in public for no reason, but he's uninformed and has no idea what's going. It's time somebody put him out to pasture because his better days are behind him... if there ever were any.

Sorry to break the bad news to you but the city will go down in flames with their suit against the Texas AG's office.The hope is that the e-mails will not be released until after the May elections which could be the case.
As to any CC memeber's e-mails,text, go get then if they were conducting city business then they are subject to open records.

The city is not going down in flames. As much as the anti city people want to believe there is a smoking gun in the personal emails they are wrong. If it was such a horrible, illegal thing you would think someone who got a personal e-mail on this issue or past issues from a council member would produce one - just to prove it happens. My guess is 99% of El Pasoans have no idea what the personal email address is of city reps or city staff.
Depending on the FOIA/ORR that Four Names requested - did she ask only for certain individuals personal emails or did she ask for all council and mayor personal emails. Watch out for the backlash if she only targeted the 5 that voted yes on the stadium. I will join DavidK in asking for every single personal email Eddie, Emma and Carl ever sent since the day they were sworn into office. Of course - this little exercise Four Names put everyone through just insured that Edde, Emma and Carl have all but erased, deleted, destroyed and possibly bought new home computers so their e-mails can't be discovered. I know I would have done that if it were me. Not that it can't be found in the email providers back ups - but its harder, takes more time and more legal fees to get them to produce it. You can never permanently delete anything that goes through a computer network.

Nope you are wrong the courts have pretty much made it clear if an elected official is using their private e-mail to conduct official busniess,acting as a agent of government,in the state of Texas the private e-mails are subject to open records.This has been tried by Dallas Waco,Corpus Christi,Austin etc etc and they all lost.Only information that is to be with held,by law,is subject to be held back.Also any information with held from the requestor can be asked to be reviewed to see if it can lawfully be with held or redacted by the AG's office.
And no the requestor does not have to prove that the e-mails exist.
If David and you believe there has been wrong doing by others on the CC go file your request for the the records.

I really don't give a damn about what the courts have ruled on. I disagree about 50% of the time with any court decision because they are all idiots that worship at the altar of campaign contributions - as does the AG.
The great news is that this will drag on for months and months and by the time it winds its way through the courthouse city hall will be torn down, stadium half built and no one will give a rat's ass about four names and her crusade.
Remember four names was just so sure that the 7000 emails was proof positive that illegal acts were going on for months at city hall and the whole bunch of them should be sent to the slammer. Well - been waiting. Haven't seen the "perp walks" to the courthouse yet. JW was exonerated by the local DA - nothing there. four names should lose her law license for making false criminal accusations against a person.

The emails, at least the first batch I saw, revealed that JW was literally taking dictation from Howchow and Burton (representing Mountainstar) and then downloading it to CC for passing the resolution. It may not be illegal, but it is not what we pay for. We pay for our reps and city staff to vet deals and negotiate hard for us the best terms for us all, not a $100MM giveaway to a couple of bored billionaires.
That is why the battle continues and I hope it continues until all the crap of this cronysim is aired in public for the whole goddam world to see how El Paso operates. Then maybe there is hope for change and transparency here, because it is the accumulated detritus of years of this shit that has resulted in the El Paso everyone seems so desparate to "change." Let's start by changing our business model.

elect people smarter than emma, eddie and carl and the city manager wouldn't have to work so hard to make these things available to them. In the end there was a vote - if the deal wasn't good they could have voted against it, they didn't.
You lost - get over it. It's no different than when someone wins a construction bid and a grand total of four city staffers see it before it's voted on. City council refuses to look into the bid, read the contract or follow up on the work. That's what the city manager has to do and if she didn't do it, nobody would do it.

Fot the last time Rotten Peppers. Burton was not hired by the city for anything to do with the baseball stadium. He was hired by PDN/PAC that promoted the bond issues and HOT tax. If you are going to spew hate then at least make an attempt to get your facts straight. if you believe Burton was hired by the city then do the research on the archived agenda's and produce the contract that was approved by council. It doesn't matter whether the emails show that JW was fed talking points from Burton and/or Harrow. CITY COUNCIL is the only ones that can vote. So if they were snowed by all the rhetoric and didn't do their homework by studying the issue and meeting with all sides to get the facts then too bad. They get to vote JW does not get a vote.
Former City Attorney fed the council a line of bullshit so long about the domestic partner issues and the city's position that now we find out he interpreted the law wrong - and council bought it . Again - the 9 people sitting up there are the only ones on this whole earth that can vote on the issue and make a decision on what direction they want to go and this is with advice, documents, meetings, public input, etc. You are pissed because they didn't agree with you. GET OVER IT!!!!

Four Names must be planning to make a run at City Council. If so, she is relying heavily on certain Districts electing stupid people in the past. Acosta, Robinson & Holguin come to mind.
