The El Paso Times has the story HERE.
Like all of you, I heard this news yesterday. I was not inclined to post something until I had gathered all the input from the legal community that I figured would come in. I now have a better understanding of what happened here and what will likely happen on the 19th of February.
All of the lawyers I talked to used words that described what happened here as uncommon. They didn't say "unprecedented" because as lawyers they know that there was clear precedent on this kind of bad faith behavior. However, they made it clear that this never really happens. One lawyer told me that the move by former Mayor Salazar and friends was akin to pulling the fire alarm on the way into the courtroom in order to delay a trial.
Of course, some of the lawyers called the move made by the Salazar crowd "chicken shit" and offered his opinion that they knew they were about to lose so they did something stupid to prolong the inevitable. He also mentioned that they have no case and that due process offered by the courts should not be confused with "having a case." He reminded me of the Fernie the Attorney suit where the federal judge gave him 50 chances to try and come up with one good argument and then dismissed the case when Fernie failed to present one. His point was that judges will give even the dumbest lawsuits a chance so as to not look like they acted too quickly and without careful consideration of the case.
With that said - Carl Starr's suit is going to be thrown out along with Salazar's and Gomez's on February 19th. It is likely the judge will use a bunch of lawyer-type words to call them each individually stupid and wasters of taxpayer's time. And he will be correct in his assessment of these morons.
I'm happy they are being fined. I think the next step is for all the people they've been calling corrupt to sue them for defamation. That would teach every ankle biter that they can't just go around calling people "corrupt" and interruptingthe people's business because they're too stupid understand the facts. At a minimum they owe the taxpayers an apology for wasting their tax dollars on this stupid fight.
El Paso Wins - Salazar and friends are the losers.
Oh - and did you notice that Four Names has kept her name off of the suits? She's got her problems, but even she was smart enough to know that these lawsuits were worthless.
I was wondering when you were going to mention this. Good read.
The best part, in my opinion, is the $5000 fine, which is supposed to go towards the city for their legal council fees. This in fact means that Mayor Salazar and company will be easing the burden on tax payers, and paying the very attorneys that will ultimately undo their ridiculous case. Good job guys!
I also love the language in the official calling it a "sham" on the part of Salazar and company. I can't remember too many times where a Federal Judge used such strong language. Gotta love it.

Aaaaaaand now it's time to hear from the crazy Salazar family! On the 'we mock el paso times because we are too stupid to understand what the adults are talking about' facebook page, one of the Salazar women said the federal judge's decision was all about discrediting her father.
As if your father needed any help discrediting himself!
And while we're at it - I seem to remember Norma Chavez and Four Names saying they were completely positive that the white folks had riled the 'sleeping giant' voters, and they were going to rise up and vote down all 3 bonds, but if they didn't, they would "respect" their decision. Where is the respect Norma, Four Names, Salazar crazies, Looney Tune Troop leader Sal Gomez, et al?
And one more thing - LET'S PLAY BALL!!!!!!!!

CV,
Thanks for taking a couple seconds away from call of duty or Sims Online--or whatever the fuck you dirty neckbeards are playing now to post your pathetic, chump-like comments.

The word Judge Sam Sparks used was "stunt"! He was a long time Judge in El Paso and very respected.
Nowhere in the Judge's Order did I see anything that "discredited" Salazar. It was full of plain English, declaratory sentences and no personal feelings in that Order.
Martin - clean up your language. Lent is coming up - maybe you should give up the F word for Lent and posting on blogs.

Martin, your father is a dirtbag. I've tried over and over to tell you that you are a dirtbag for letting him believe that he was ever relevant, but you wouldn't listen.
You and your ilk always try to distract from the issue at hand by calling names and hurling expletives like a middle school mouth-breather, but the plain fact of the matter is your father and his buddies were bitch slapped by a federal judge.
He - and you because you have permanently attached your middle aged butt to his scandal ridden coattails - should prepare to get the same treatment from the judge in Austin!
By the way, I have no idea what 'call of duty or Sims Online' are, but that's because I'm a grown up. You should look into sometime.

You are wrong, Lslsls, the judge used both sham and stunt. You can tell he was very angry by the waste of time. And he was discrediting ALL of the party of crazies.
David, wasn't Martin banned from here because of his threats?
Martin, your dad was a crook when he pulled his shady city hall deal when he was mayor and now he is a thief stealing our money for this nonsense.
I think the taxpayers of El Paso should sue all of these crazies and get our money back. Carl Starr will have to work overtime in his begging. He definitely needs to payback the taxpayers for all of his frivolous lawsuits. What type of self-respecting human being says he has a "right to beg" and brags about never worked a day in his life? Time for him to find some other desert to pitch his tent in.

Martin is banned and if David really wanted too he could compare ip addresses. Just someone using the name to fire up your guys behinds so stupid rhetoric will be written. I know their family and I know for sure Martin has moved on from this site.

When the feds get involved eventually we know they will on our city government we will all see them cockaroaches run and try to hide. Say Mena tried to hide his shadiness when he worked at EPISD but he got caught and yes he was punished for it. But taxpayers still had to fork the bill. They should have had Mark Mena and family pay for it.

Notary, you "know his family"? You ARE his family. That is why nothing you post is the truth. You are ALL crazy shysters out to make an ILLEGAL buck. And I am sure it is Martin, daddy's boy, because that is EXACTLY how he talks. He can use someone else's computer. We are not idiots like you and your clan.

Josie Bustos why so much hostility? Did the Salazar family do you wrong in your past? Poor woman you are. I hope when the ballpark is built that they give you, Mark Mena and his crooked dad Sal Mena a front row seat so you can catch a ful ball.

You are a sick, sick woman. Your whole family is sick. Pathetic stalkers with no lives wanting to name city hall after their corrupt father/tio whatever. You have name plates for all of you - for each toilet at the baseball stadium. Have a nice life, loser, and stop stalking people. You don't even have the guts to post under your real name. PATHETIC LOSER!
Posted by: Josie | February 11, 2013 at 02:18 PM
Oh really Josie Bustos!! Name plates....sorry Im not related but Im sure the family would rather pass on the name plates so you can have them all with your name. Poop follows poop thats why you are always on this blog. You and Mark Mena a couple of wannabes need to really get a life. Please post something better on your Facebook page so someone will comment back. Loser!!!!!!

Anybody watch city council today and Mr. Medina's statement (prepared by the attorney's) that they have sent the Department of Justice their complaint that mexican-americans in El Paso have had their voting rights abused by mayor and council because they didn't get to vote on whether to tear down city hall or not.
Got news for you people - the Obama/Holder Justice Department responds to complaints filed by hard core money supporters of Obama. El Paso will never get any attention because it always votes 100% for a democrat and they don't give large sums of money to democrat presidents. They don't need your money, or your causes - because like sheep - you keep voting for them. So what's in it for them to review your voting rights charge? They will probably have a good laugh over the lousy voter participation in every single election El Paso has. So what's the point - 60% of the voters never show up and its an 85% Mexican-American majority in El Paso.
