I received an angry email from a Downtown Rotary member who is besides himself that Four Names is going to be a member. I guess he's going to quit and take a few with him once she's affirmed.
Now, I don't know much about Rotary clubs other than you have to sing when you go to their lunch and I think that's about as embarrassing thing as walking around with your pants off. I can't imagine that adding Four Names to your club is a good thing. Well, unless you want to turn into her club carrying her water for her issues. I will assume that the Downtown Rotary Club is taking an official stance of being against baseball by making her their new leader.
I'm guessing the Downtown Rotary Club is hurting so bad for membership that they will take a stance against 60 percent of the population... doesn't seem to make sense to me. If you need membership - move the direction of the mass of people, not against it.
If you're a Rotarian and want to get out and make your own group, I know who to talk to!
Maybe the Rotary still believes in personal freedom and the right to redress grievances toward your government, even if unpopular.
Strange idea on this blog.

I don't know about El Paso Rotary Clubs but the Rotary Club in Phoenix that I belonged to was a very polite group. They didn't want rabble rousers and name callers. And usually, Rotarians support local government. One of Rotary's tenents is, "Will it build good will and better friendships?" That thought should be applied to the actions of all Rotarians. Allala's actions cannot meet that standard.
One can express opionions, Peppers, but it should be done with civility and truth.

Rotten Peppers,
Lying to the public and harassing elected officials based on inaccurate information is Allala's right. It comes with its downside, though - people may not want her around.
However, in this case - the group is embracing her. The public can now assess the standing of that group in society.
I'm no judge here - just a play by play announcer.

Facts are inconvenient sometimes.
There is no "Downtown Rotary Club". It is the Rotary Club of El Paso.
They are not taking a position and will not take one in the future.
She is not becoming their leader, even if they admit her. You have to earn your stripes in Rotary.
You seem to have gotten your exercise today jumping to conclusions.

Bill,
You don't seem to know all that much about Ms. Allala, do you? Five minutes after she's a part of your group she will be telling everyone that the downtown rotary club is against the baseball deal and the bond issues.
You wait and see bill. I personally think people like you deserve what you're going to get. You're not smart enough to listen to the warnings, so you're going to pay full price for the cost of being hard headed.
I'm going to assume all of your members are okay with your new stance on progress in El Paso?

I heard that a number of downtown Rotary Club members are not and were not fans of the QOL 1 and 2 bond issues, the HOT tax item and the stadium. So - maybe she will be in good company and can photoshop the faces of "normal" people into her next video instead of the "crazies" that haunt city hall now.
Either way - she's not a person I would even invite to my own hanging - just because she is just so weird......

Weird doesn't cover it. She is loud, obnoxious, crazy, slanderous, full of lies, full of hate......

Bill,
It would appear that your "sharpest stick days" are done. There is a west side rotary that is separate from the downtown rotary...and if you think your downtown club is going to benefit from such a divisive and confrontational figure as she..then you only bring shame to the very pillars of which rotary now stands.
