What none of you were told by the real media was that Reps Acosta and Limon made complete asses of themselves on the budget item yesterday.
Limon started by reading from a piece of paper someone gave her. The subject was "leases" and it was full of lies. Everything Limon tried to bring up was shot down by Wilson. Limon looked wholly uniformed and simply stupid for bringing them up in the first place. Holguin just ducked his head knowing that she was being made a fool by whoever wrote down her notes for her to read.
Limon summed up her position on the budget with a convoluted plea about her household finances. She's much too stupid to realize that a person's household and a city run very differently. Without getting into a lot of specifics - El Paso, even though I disagree with a tax increase, is in much better shape than many other large cities in the country - financially speaking. Educated people had to wonder how she was allowed to be around a teaching environment after that statement.
Acosta started whining about the fact that council halved their respective discretionary budgets. It was ten grand and it's now five grand and she's already handed all the money out and wants more. So what does she do? Proposes a motion to put off the budget so they can raise taxes further to increase her discretionary budget. Do you know who seconded that motion? Limon. The woman who just said the city was spending way too much money seconded a motion to spend more money. ARE --- YOU --- KIDDING ---- ME? You can't make this shit up.
Well, it turns out that Limon went ahead and hired two full-time employees at $40,000 a year when she was only supposed to have one full-time and one part-time like the rest of council. Oh, and you'll love this - she hires a former Reyes minion and a guy who ha already been fired from the City of El Paso for what all of you would describe as theft. Yes, you read that correctly - she hired someone already fired from a place that is nearly impossible to be fired from. Bottom line - Limon needs the discretionary funds to pay her staff because she's over-budget.
Unfortunately for them the mayor approved the budget (so much for the anti-Ortega candidate). Limon will have to figure out how to pay the joker and the .... well you know the song.
What was funny was that Robinson, Limon, Acosta and Holguin voted against the budget, but offered zero input as to how one might reduce it. They are useless unless you count sitting on their hands and bitching about how their hands smell as a useful activity. Those four could not likely gain employment at a fast food restaurant, but yet they are running the city. Stop asking why your children are leaving and never coming back - your answer is Acosta, Limon, Holguin and Robinson. Would you want to be any one of them when you grow up? Yeah, I didn't think so.
