I guess the things Representative Acosta wrote to Joyce Wilson were not for public consumption and it's my fault that they are now out there for everyone to see. I simply filled out the form on the city's website that allows a citizen to make an open records request (ORR for those of you in the know). I had no idea that this would lead to retaliation by Acosta.
If you read the following request, you'll see that my mother, father and their employees are being set up to be harassed by Emma Acosta for their normal business interactions at the city. Remember, as an engineering and construction firm they are required by law to interact with the city on a myriad of issues surrounding planning and permits. They also bid construction work and occasionally win, so there's a lot of paper work involved there as well. There's a lot to see, but I wonder what her intentions are.
It's all public record and the correspondence between my parent's and their employees with the city is created with that fact in mind. They have nothing to hide and as a matter of fact, they keep copies of all the correspondence on file indefinitely as well.
I'm assuming the pages and pages of emails containing certified payrolls for construction projects, meeting notices for construction projects and document requests for construction projects will be given to Acosta. She will then have her staff (on your taxpayer dime) look through them for any wrong doing so that she can hand them over to Four Names Allala for publication.
I assume you folks will be okay with your tax monies being spent to settle a political score with me. I also assume you guys are okay with elected officials retaliating against the friends and family of a blogger. I mean, isn't that the basis of great government? You know, the persecution of those who might disagree with those in power.
And here's the real problem for you the taxpayer. If Acosta convinces Allala to misuse the innocuous emails in a manner that affects my parent's company - they're going to get sued. Acosta will be sued both personally and as a city representative. That means you'll be footing the bill for the legal team to defend her actions. And since my parents would have a pretty open and shut case here, you'd be on the hook for the settlement.
I'm sorry guys - I was just exercising my privilege given to me (and all of you as well) under the Freedom of Information Act. I didn't know that others related to me would be subject to retaliation by a public official.
Mom... Dad... - employees of CSA Engineers - I'm sorry that you are being persecuted for being associated with me. I just wanted to see what was going on in government. I never meant for you to be hurt by what now amounts to a crime against the government. Please forgive my curiosity with those who have been elected to control represent us.
I do find it curious that Firth copies the mayor on this request. I guess I'm on his shit list too.
Keep your head down and your mouth shut, citizens. The line for bread starts to my right.
