Council awarded the water park project yesterday... about $1 million dollars over budget. Keep an eye on this disaster in the making.
Council obviously left the city manager alone when it came to his review yesterday. He also didn't get a raise. I hear they are now trying to keep their mouths shut in order to try and avoid being sued.
The ethics commission is only useful if you have a common enemy. Think about that for a second.
Also, expect ethics complaints to come flying in at quite a clip here in the near future. Remember when everyone figured out you could file open records requests for just about anything? Well, now people are aware that you can file ethics complaints just as fast as you can scribble your name at the bottom of a sheet of paper. Some council members should be shaking in their boots and others have nothing to worry about. Again, the ethics commission only useful to you if you have a common enemy.
I'll buy anyone dinner who files an ethics complaint over a council member not washing their hands after going to the bathroom. Can you imagine the line of questioning for that hearing!!
Kudos to Rep. Emma Acosta for standing up to the bullies who are making a mockery of council. I may not agree with Acosta on all issues, but I will say that she will got to the mat for her constituents. She's the only one on council out there communicating the world that some ugly stuff has been going on behind the scenes. I thought Rep. Claudia Ordaz was the transparency person on council and now it seems she's not.
What did I miss?
