Cesar Blanco is nice fellow. He doesn't seem to do much harm to anyone. Rumor has it he's nice enough not to burden his constituents by even living in El Paso with them . That's why I say he's a lock for your next State Senator! I kid... I kid... It's far from decided science that Blanco is going win. Never trust what "The Delegation" supports or says is going to happen. Right now the "The Delegation" says Blanco is the guy...
It's way too early to be crowning anyone. It's not a race until John Cook announces. And the good news is that Cook is working on a campaign song as you read this. The bad news is that it is set to all too familiar Woody Guthrie tune and it goes a little something like this:
This senate seat is not your senate seat, this senate seat is my senate seat
From Canutillo to Tornillo,
From Tom Mays park to the Bowie Bakery;
This senate seat was made for me and me alone.
I'm just kidding - he hasn't written a song yet. However, he'll probably run if history truly serves as a window to the future.
Others looking to run are not hard to pick out. They definitely made the terrorist attack on your fellow citizens all about them when the cameras were on. Bottom line - this is not Cesar's salad - it's more of a salad bar with lots of options.
With that said, "The Delegation" has chosen the lovely Ms. Elisa Tamayo to assume Blanco's soon to be open seat. "The Delegation" has been running around town threatening people out of the race and in other cases lining up patsies to dilute the vote just in case a really good name announces against their gal.
And they should be worried...
The lovely Ms. Tamayo has been in the employ of the outgoing senator and house member. A few people are a little concerned that the lovely Ms. Tamayo might be more beholden to her two former bosses than her constituents. I mean, it's kind of obvious that she was not asked to run by people who live in the district - because she, until recently, didn't live there from what I understand. She was asked to run by two men who were her boss in the recent past and with whom she is very comfortable taking orders from. It's not lost on voters when the answer to the question "why are you running?" is "because my old boss can't let control over his old job slip away." It would be a completely different scenario if a candidate was being "drafted" by the voters - as was Hillary back in 2016. (WAIT! I have to laugh for second... let me catch my breath. The "Draft Hillary" thing was invented by Hillary's campaign to make it seem like there was an appetite for more Clintons... which, it turns out, there wasn't. I think Epstein is the most upset about that turn of events...)
Anywho...
The Lovely Ms. Tamayo, from what I understand, isn't really tied into the district in the recent past. Her LinkedIn today says she works in Austin... from 2018 until now. She did a pretty good job of cleaning up social media like making her Instagram account private and what not. Her Twitter feed seems to be loaded up with campaign stuff from very recently, but a tweet from July 8, 2019 clearly shows she wasn't living in El Paso or the district . https://twitter.com/elisatamayo/status/1148393881819668480. This is going to be a problem if a well known local gets in the race. They will know his or her face better than hers.
She's also very hard to understand when she speaks as some folks reported to me from the event and from contacts with Blanco's office - which will make it hard for her to communicate her platform. She is a partisan Democrat... which means even if elected, she'll just fade into the furniture like the rest of the delegation not named "Joe Moody" during the session. I wish her luck. And as per usual - for $5,000 a year she can hire me as a campaign consultant and that would preclude me from writing anything about her on this blog as it would be a conflict of interest/campaign foul/bad juju/unethical.
I do think "The Delegation" is getting a little ahead of itself here. The "leaders" of the local Democratic party like to pretend they are in lock-step going into primary season every couple of years. However, like my two kids, if you leave them together in a room too long a fight is going to break out. One simple disagreement on the most inane, insignificant, idiotic detail and all of sudden you have one party whacking the shit out of the other with a half-dressed headless Barbie. It's only a matter of time.
The good news is that no Republicans in that district do not have to worry about a thing... because people who do not exist can not worry! (that's the best joke I have for you today!)
I just want to know where was the Delegation at her presser yesterday.

What you are telling me that Ms. Tamayo is not a native El Pasoan? I thought I could trust Twitter, I guess she editorialized her headline slightly.
"๐ต๐ธ native El Pasoan committed to a brighter future for all Texans ๐ฉ๐ฝshe/her/ella"
Utep Actually has a nice article on her stating her home town as Chihuahua Mexico. I wonder how they could have made that mistake. Maybe they misunderstood her.

If she gets elected I'm selling my house and moving my business I just can't live in a city where idiots can elect someone like her. She is 27 years old and has never had a job outside of politics. Her last job was "office administrator" and now we are expected to vote for her? I guess she is following the trail of Kamala Harris and sleeping her way to the top.
Don't forget to use the correct pronoun when speaking around her. She is apparently one of those that takes offense to being misgendered.
